The Columbus Blue Jackets are a specialized ice hockey team founded in Columbus,
Ohio, United States. They participate in the National Hockey League. On June 23,
2000, the NHL's two most recent teams, the Jackets and the Minnesota Wild, took
branch in the 2000 NHL Expansion Draft from Calgary, Alberta.
The 2002-03 NHL season started comparatively fine, in the summer of 2005, rugged
Colorado Avalanche defenseman Adam Foote agreed to a multi-year deal with the
team. Heading into the 2005-06 NHL season, it appeared the Jackets would finally
take the next step and make the playoffs.
